WHITE
WINES
New Zealand, Marlborough, Sauvignon Blanc - Appellation: Wairau Valley, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand Harvest Conditions: pH 3.37, Brix 20.3°, T.A. 7.2g/l
France used to be the standard-bearer for Sauvignon Blanc, but in 1985 all of that changed, when New Zealand produced its first vintage. Overnight, the world had a new model for Sauvignon Blanc, startlingly different and delicious. Marlborough has the sunniest, driest climate in New Zealand, and the Wairau Valley's rich soils combine with the cool nights to deliver astonishingly pungent wines, with gooseberry, herbs, pink grapefruit, lime-leaf, tropical fruit, passion fruit, and a host of other beguiling perfumes. Few wines ever achieve the amazing aromatic complexity and zesty fruit of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Snappy, refreshing and delicious after only 3 months, this white wine will age gorgeously for 2 years, but really rewards prompt drinking with fruity freshness.
Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Unwooded Chardonnay - Appellation: Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, California, USA Harvest Conditions: pH 3.34, Brix 21.6°, T.A. 7.5 g/l
Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape in the world, from Burgundy in France to Australia and back to California. Its reputation is well earned, as it makes delicious wines! The Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma produces some of the most sought-after wines in the world. With its combination of well drained, rich volcanic soil, long California growing seasons, copious sunshine and cool coastal breezes. it produces grapes of powerful and unique intensity. Our Sonoma Dry Creek Unwooded Chardonnay is a fresh, well-balanced wine with typical Chardonnay characteristics of tropical citrus aromas and flavours. Unusual in a Chardonnay, these flavours shine through undimmed by oak. While some wines use the vanilla and smoke of oaking to add structure and depth, the fruit quality of these grapes is allowed to come through, and the rich, round mouthful lingers to a long, crisp finish.
