Italian Pinot Grigio
The uniquely Italian version of the well known Pinot Gris grape, picked
earlier in Italy than in all other regions and well before its characteristic
loss of acidity at ripening, for a bright, crisp, dry, white wine with a gentle
perfume and a detectable spiciness. Fresh, fragrant and lively, its
flavors include a certain flintiness with hints of citrus and almonds.
Italian Verdicchio
Verdicchio is one of Italy's extremely popular white wine varieties,
produced from the astonishingly lively Verdicchio grape. Its name is
derived from verde, meaning green, referring to the yellow-greed
skin of the grape, which gives the wine a subtle, greenish hue. The aroma
is pleasantly crisp and distinctly dry, with bright lemony acidity and a fresh,
elegant finish that cleans the palate. Verdicchio allows for early
consumption and pairs perfectly with seafood and cream sauce pastas.

Italian Amarone -
![]()
Few wines are as bold as Amarone.
Made in the Veneto region of Northern Italy, this specialty wine is produced
alongside Valpolicella, a usually medium bodied blend of Corvina, Molinara and
Rondinella grapes. Italian Amarone takes the same raw materials and makes them
into a treasured, powerful red table wine. The finest Amarone grapes come from
bunches that have two well spaced clusters sticking out to allow the sun to
ripen the whole bunch evenly.
The secret lies in fragrant, perfectly ripe grapes and how they’re treated.
During the harvest a portion of the grapes are diverted from the crusher and set
aside to dry on straw mats, eventually turning into extremely sweet raisins.
When they’re added to the fermenting wine, they explode into new activity,
driving the alcohol content up and increasing the colour, flavour and aroma to
dizzying heights from the extra skin material.
Winexpert Selection Internatinal Italian Amarone is a very intense and
complex wine, with a wide array of flavours and aromas. Deep ruby red, this
heavyweight wine exudes aromas of sour cherries, dark chocolate, stewed plums,
dried fruits, anise, raisins, bitter almond, tobacco, leather and molasses, and
has a spicy-earthy bittersweet finish that lengthens on indefinitely from the
huge volume of tannins. Delightful with food, Italian Amarone is often enjoyed
by itself, sipped outside of mealtimes with good conversation and good friends.
Italian Barbaresco
Named for the village in Italy's Piedmont region, recognized for its big,
powerful red wines, with lush aromas, robust fruit flavors, and a dry,
full finish. Similar in style to its Barolo cousin, yet more elegant
and refined.
Italian Montepulciano
Montepulciano is a vigorous red grape variety widely planted over much of
east-central Italy, capable of creating deeply colored , rich red wines with
blackberry fruit flavors and spicy, peppery qualities. Due to its moderate
acid and firm tannin levels, Montepulciano generally produces wines that are
smooth and mellow yet robust and mouth-filling, with dependably high alcohol
content. Superb with veal and pasta - an Italian gem you won't want to
miss.
Italian Sangiovese -
Harvest Conditions: pH 3.55, Brix 21.8°, T.A. 5.00g/l
Sangiovese
is the go-getter grape of Italy, grown in virtually province. In Tuscany
(Central Italy) where it originated, endless sunshine and well drained mineral
soils push it to sublime heights in wines like Brunello di Montalcino and
Chianti. Chianti is a blend of different grapes where Sangiovese plays a
supporting role, whereas unblended - as in Brunello - it provides an intense,
vibrant richness. Selection International Italian Sangiovese has a wonderful
bright red cherry character overlaying strawberry notes with hints of violets
and white pepper. It has a medium body and long, wonderfully smooth, tannic
finish; livened by a zing of acidity and toasty oak and as always, a touch of
the Tuscan earth. Easy to drink young, this wine will open up and express much
of its character after six months of ageing.
New Zealand Pinot Noir New Zealand's finest Red wine. A delicate wine with aromas of violet and luscious red fruit characteristics of cherry, strawberry and raspberry. Silky tannins grip your palate and end with a velvet, smooth finish. An elusive aftertaste of spice and toasty vanilla makes you long for more.
South African Pinotage An unlikely cross-breeding of Pinot Noir and Cinsault, South Africa's Pinotage only showed up in the 1970's. Delicate and balanced like a Pinot, with the hardiness robust colour of Cinsault, it's a variety too long neglected in the popular wine market. Selection International Pinotage is a deep, intense ruby coloured wine, with purple highlights. Complex and intense, its layered aromas of ripe raspberry, spices, red cherry and fruitcake give way to a rich complexity of flavours, including raspberry, vanilla, plums, coffee and even a hint of banana! Smooth on the palate due to firm ( but friendly! ) tannins, it allows for easy drinking but also promises wonderful ageing potential.
Spanish Rioja
Spain's finest red wine blend from the famous northern Spanish region.
Tends towards the traditional French blends, combining bright berry and spice
flavors, deep red colors and solid tannin backup. Includes premium oak for
a soft, dry vanilla finish. Delightful when aged.
